WASP AND BEE PEST CONTROL VANCOUVER
About Wasps & Bees
Wasps are different than bees in that they do not produce honey and make their nests out of mud or wood, while bees only make their nests from honey. 98% of the time, Gilpins Pest Control is handling wasp problems, not a bee problem. Wasps tend to be more aggressive from August to October and turn to food and garbage as their preferred food source. This often leads to unintentional contact and a wasp attack. Gilpins Pest Control provides pest management for a half a dozen types of common wasps. However, we only treat the nests; we don’t treat individual bees or wasps.
Methods of Control
When treating a wasp infestation, we usually spray and possibly remove the nest depending on the circumstances. At the beginning of season, we can remove the nest. At the end of the season, we need to treat with a pesticide first.
When addressing bee issues, we prefer to have a bee collector wherever possible. For example, when bees have infested a wall of a house, they will usually suck them out with a vacuum. Bee infestation is not as common in residential buildings. Bee colonies will often move in spring and form swarms – a very large ball of bees, and sometimes will rest overnight on a tree or house and will move out the next day. We generally advise leaving them for the day.
