HOW BED BUGS FEED
The nymphs and adults require blood meals to develop and reproduce. Bed bugs feed mainly at night when the human is sleeping, although may feed in the daytime if conditions are favorable. On average, a bed bug will feed once every 7 days, although higher temperatures can stimulate more frequent feeding.
Bed bugs take 5-10 minutes to feed. They feed on exposed areas of skin, with most bites being found on the abdomen but also on the neck, arms, legs and feet. Lesions are often found in a lined pattern and clustered into groups of three.
Bed bugs find their host by heat, CO2, body odours and other human secretions.
