CORNFIELD/MOISTURE ANTS PEST CONTROL VANCOUVER
About Cornfield/Moisture Ants
Cornfield or moisture ants are similar in that they infest decayed wood, soil, under basement concrete floors, under paving stones, driveways and sidewalks.
When infested under concrete floors, you may find sand or soil being pushed out through cracks in the floor. These ants will range in colour from black, brown, or red and are much smaller than carpenter ants.
The colonies will develop winged reproductives, which are much larger than the workers. These winged ants will swarm from July to September. Some may think that these swarmers are carpenter ants, but carpenter ants swarm in the spring. Swarmers will usually emerge late afternoon or early evening, sometimes by the hundreds.
Control Methods for Cornfield/Moisture Ants
Procedure for treatment inside a home is to treat the inside perimeter of the home and cracks in the floor. These ants are rarely found above the first level of a home. The outside perimeter of the home at the base of the foundation or wall is also treated.
If these ants are found only outside, treatment is applied to cracks in sidewalks, driveways, patio stones, stumps and landscape ties. When you call Gilpins Pest Control to provide treatment for cornfield or moisture ants, the least-toxic liquid insecticide, yet one that will bring results, will be used. Treatment of the average home in the Greater Vancouver Area carries a one-year warranty.
